Kirkby Lonsdale Contest Report

The contest at Kirkby Lonsdale is held in June every year in the market square, outside the town hall. The contest consists of a march into the square, playing a march, a hymn, then a test piece. The pieces chosen for the day were the march 'Death or Glory' into the square, the march 'Knight Templar', hymn tune 'Aberystwyth' and the test piece 'Tryptich'.

So how did we fare against the competition? In short, we won (again!). For second year in a row, the band won the contest overall, retaining no less than four trophies from the pervious year. This now brings the number of trophies won in the last year and a half to sixteen.

After the contest, refreshments and a celebration meal were taken at the Fenwick Arms on the way home.
